  1. Hailie Rosenberger

Competition Powder for 12 and 20 Gauge Target Loads
This is one of the best metering powders I’ve found for my MEC 600s. SDs for most typical 12 gauge loads are about 0.1 to 0.2 grains with CVs less than 1%. Those are about a fifth of what Green Dot meters and a fourth of what Clays meters. I have developed several 7/8 ounce, 1 ounce, and 1&1/8 ounce loads for 12 gauge using 8 and 9 shot seated over various Claybuster wads. W209 primers give adequate ignition. I’ve also developed a 7/8 ounce 20 gauge load that works well even though Ram Shot considers this a 12 gauge powder. Recipes from Ram Shot are limited for this powder but careful adjustment of the recipes can yield safe accurate loads with variety.

Ramshot Competition powder, the best powder I have used
Originally bought this when powder was hard to get. I have been using this powder in my 9mm loads for USPSA shooting. It feeds extremely well and drops a very constant weight, using a Hornady AP press. My load for 9mm has been 124gn Xtreme FP copper plated bullet and 3.2gn of Ramshot Competition, which fills a 9mm case only about half way. Has very little recoil and is accurate. I have been shooting a lot of 1 ½ inch groups at up to 30 feet with it. Need to keep loads in the minor power factor. With the small 3.2gn I can get a lot of shells loaded from a one pound container.

  3. Betty Ivins

    9mm dream powder
For those that are recoil sensitive this is a very soft shooting powder, High Loft reloading fills the case fully and no smoke at all. I load 147gr fmj for competition where accuracy matters and this powder delivers.

  4. Fum Ble

    Ramshot Competition
I use this reloading skeet only. This Meters very well with MEC reloader. My ammo is now the best I have used.m I have used the x700 and will continue using it for pistol ammo but my new choice for clays is the competition. You can’t go wrong. By the way I use Federal 209a primers.

  5. Stacie Swanson

    Similar to n320
Ramshot Competition is a fantastic powder. I use it in my 9 40 and 45 pistols. It is especially useful for power factor loads with minimal recoil.

  6. Crass

I have begun to use this …
I have begun to use this powder instead of ZIP as I also use Silhouette powder and the Competition provides more of a burn rate- charge difference. The Competition also is very fluffy and fills the case nicely even though mass wise it is actually very little powder. I use it in my 45 acp with 200 grain CU plated RN bullets and I have chronographed ~ 800 fps with almost no recoil. This is the minimum load that will reliably cycle the action on my 4.5″ Springfiled XDm. I save the Sihlouette for full power loads with 230 grain FMJ bullets.

  7. Alex White

I loaded up some shotgun …
I loaded up some shotgun shells with the Ramshot’s Competition powder last night. I went and shot Sporting Clays with it today. It is very clean burning, low recoil reload. Another plus is that I am able to maintain 1200+ fps with less powder than other brands.

  8. Plume

    good product
I bought this powder because it was available. Powder is sometimes difficult to obtain. I had never heard of it before but I must say it is more than adequate for the light trap loads I build. It is quite clean burning and is very consistent velocity wise. I load a bit light (1125fps) and recoil is low. If price is comparable I will use it again.
