Douglas Dykes –
Federal primers are consistently the best
Used Federal LR primers for years. Some are almost 20 years old from a “power buy” when on sale. Just got down to my last 100 or so. I have loads worked up with Federal primers that the other brands come close to, but never equaled or exceeded. Federal primers are not really softer or larger than other brands, just better made. They are my go to choice when reloading rifle ammunition for hunting and serious target shooting. Try them and see what you’ve been missing.

Daniel Hudnall –
Good product, bought for a special purpose.
Bought these for a “special” load. Carrying a 454 Casull for bear protection out west in a Ruger SRH. Normally 454 uses small rifle primers however the best powder I have found for full power loads is W296/ H110. This powder is notoriously hard to light so I prefer to use large primers, doing so bought me 80fps more velocity on average and better accuracy due to more consistent ignition. To do this I cut down 460 S&W brass to 454 length and loaded them with large primers. Using another brand caused occasional misfires in the handgun because the cups were too hard and hammer blow of the pistol too soft. Federal primers are a quality product and have the softest cups of the major brands so these are more sensitive than the others. They solved my misfire issue while retaining my accuracy and velocity. Now I have a hot and reliable bear load I hope I never need!
